Geography
Situated between North and South America, Panama includes some the world's most diverse landscapes. From dense rain forests in the east, to cool mountain climates in the west, there is a variety of scenery. The country enjoys numerous beaches, many of them yet to be overrun with development, and warm temperatures throughout the year.
Economy
Famous for the Panama Canal, Panama is a world-wide center for trade and commerce, and boasts one the healthiest and robust economies in Latin America. Major industries within the country include banking, tourism, and trade. While many parts of the country benefit from first-world infrastructure, many of the people (estimated at 16%) live in poverty. The country's currency, the Balboa, holds a fixed parity with the United States dollar. American dollars can be exchanged for all goods and services within the country. Panama does, however, produce its own coinage.
Travel
The capital, Panama City is a well-developed, international metropolis that can be easily accessed via Tocumen International Airport. The airport has daily connections to numerous international cities, including: Dallas, Miami, Houston, Atlanta and New York. Travel within Panama is also easy due the country's well-developed road system. Visitors can easily access the majority of the country's major cities by car, through travel on the Pan-American highway.
Spiritual Climate
Over 80% of the population is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. There are also numerous Protestants, Muslims as well as a variety of other faiths. The majority of the Chinese people within Panama are atheists.
