The Voice
In a world fragmented and confused, a clarion call--as a trumpet--sounds
forth among the people of God to gather in His name, to remember His
goodness, to proclaim His faithfulness, to show forth His praise among the
nations, among all peoples. As we come together from all denominations to
lift our gifts before the King, His presence graces our community and
our individual lives. As we sing, dance, strike the strings, as we express
our faith through visual, dramatic, or literary art, we offer to God our
sacrifice of praise; we offer Him our best. And as we lift our gifts before
Him in a public display of praise and worship, we remind our neighbors and
ourselves that He, indeed, is LORD.
-
The Value
Lavish worship, as illustrated by the woman who broke the vial of costly
perfume to anoint the feet of Jesus, must cost us something. For her act
of worship, it was a year's wages. For many of us, it is the choice of
dance or vocal rehearsals over the many other activities that engage our
time and resources. For others, it is risking rejection from sharing our
faith with those around us hostile to God. For others, it is giving
financially to those who have need or to those who are sent. For all of us,
though, lavish worship requires that we give--our time, our talents, our
tender.
