Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra

Back

Founded by conductor Piotr Sulkowski, the Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra was organized to perform at the "Young Composers' Forum," a festival held originally in 1993.  The commitment of the ensemble members resulted in the continuation of the event.  "Forum Sinfonia" acts under the auspices of the Academy of Music in Krakow and cooperates with other musical institutions of the city such as the P.W.N. Edition and the publishing house "VIVO."

The orchestra has been invited to take part in such Polish and international festivals as the Organ Music Days, the Canadian Music Festival, and Silesian Day of Contemporary Music. In 1994, they received the Best Performance Award from the Chapter of Critics at the Young Composers' Forum and were asked by the P.W.M. Edition Composers' Competition to perform a work by Rajumund Pietrzak. Their prize-winning performance was broadcast by Polish radio.  Their CDs contain music from "Four Seasons" by Vivaldi, "Serenada" by Czajkowski, and the German musical "Deorecording."  Their repertory ranges from Baroque to contemporary compositions such as those by Widlak, Chyrzynski, Minqjiqi, Lukaszewski, Zielinski, and Dziadek and includes many first performances.
