"Nativity of the Ages" Mural
In 1996, the Messiah Project dedicated a mural depicting the "Nativity of the Ages." This 50 foot by 70 foot mural was painted on the side of a grain elevator located at the corner of Chestnut Expressway and National Avenue in Springfield, Missouri, and shows people from many different nations and cultures adoring the child, born over 2000 years ago in a stable in Bethlehem.
The painting was designed by Obie Harrup of the Dalesco Group in Springfield. It was painted by Farley Lewis of the Farley Lewis Design Group. Various businesses Trust donated the use of the building; the Springfield Fire Department washed down the building; Fire Master fire Apparatus donated theuse of an 85 foot fire truck; Central States Equipment donated the use of a 60 foot lift; Sherwin Williams Paint Company donated the majority of the paint; Davis Paint also donated paint to the project. Dwight Hughes of Hughes Painting donated time and equipment; and Masters Jackson Crane Company donated the use of a crane and operator. In addition, support was given by all of the local televation stations, the Springfield News Leader, many local Christian radio stations, David Miles of Branson drove up daily to operate the fire truck and supervise the operation, and several other local citizens gave financial support to help cover the expenses.
